XConn Technologies Showcases Composable Memory System Prototype with CXL™ 2.0 Ecosystem at 2023 OCP Global Summit
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 17, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — XConn Technologies (XConn), the innovation leader in next-generation interconnect technology for the future of high-performance computing and AI applications, today announced that it will be displaying a Composable Memory System prototype during the 2023 OCP Global Summit, October 17-19 in San Jose, at the OCP Open Experience Center. The demonstration – which will include solutions from AMD, Intel, MemVerge, Montage, SMART Modular and XConn’s Apollo CXL/PCIe switch – will highlight the benefits of a Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) 2.0-based Composable Memory System featuring memory expansion, pooling, and sharing for demanding HPC and AI applications.
Astera Labs First to Break Through the Memory Wall with Industry’s Highest Performance CXL Memory Controllers
SANTA CLARA, CA, U.S. – September 19, 2023 – Astera Labs, the global leader in semiconductor-based connectivity solutions for AI infrastructure, today announced that its Leo Memory Connectivity Platform enables data center servers with unprecedented performance for memory intensive workloads. Leo is the industry’s first Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) memory controller that increases total server memory bandwidth by 50% while also decreasing latency by 25% when integrated with the forthcoming 5th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor. Through new hardware-based interleaving of CXL-attached and CPU native memory, Astera Labs and Intel eliminate any application-level software changes to augment server memory resources via CXL. Existing applications can effortlessly “plug-and-play” to take advantage of the highest possible memory bandwidth and capacity in the system.
Micron Launches Memory Expansion Module Portfolio to Accelerate CXL 2.0 Adoption
BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 07, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU), today announced sample availability of the Micron CZ120 memory expansion modules to customers and partners. The Micron CZ120 modules come in 128GB and 256GB capacities in the E3.S 2T form factor, which uses PCIe® Gen5 x8 interface. Additionally, the CZ120 modules are capable of running up to 36GB/s memory read/write bandwidth1 and augment standard server systems when incremental memory capacity and bandwidth is required. The CZ120 modules use Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) standards and fully support the CXL 2.0 Type 3 standard. By leveraging a unique dual-channel memory architecture and Micron’s high-volume production DRAM process, the Micron CZ120 delivers higher module capacity and increased bandwidth. Workloads that benefit from more memory capacity include AI training and inference models, SaaS applications, in-memory databases, high-performance computing and general-purpose compute workloads that run on a hypervisor on premise or in the cloud.
Samsung, MemVerge, H3 Platform, and XConn Demonstrate Memory Pooling and Sharing for “Endless Memory”
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Aug 8, 2023 – Samsung, MemVerge, H3 Platform, and XConn, today unveiled a 2TB Pooled CXL Memory System at Flash Memory Summit. The system addresses performance challenges faced by highly distributed AI/ML applications. These challenges include issues like spilling memory to slow storage when main memory is full, excessive memory copying, I/O to storage, serialization/deserialization, and Out-of-Memory errors that can crash an application.
MemVerge and SK hynix Accelerate Memory Pooling and Sharing Software Development with CXL Flight Simulator
MILPITAS, Calif. – August 2, 2023 – MemVerge®, pioneers of Big Memory software, today introduced QEMU-based CXL Flight Simulator, a virtual CXL hardware environment that allows software engineers to kick off development without CXL memory expansion and pooling systems. The memory ecosystem is at a critical juncture where software is needed to facilitate integration of new CXL-compatible hardware. In response, MemVerge is hosting a curated collection of pre-built virtual machines that take the complexity out of configuring QEMU and bleeding edge kernels, enabling software developers to take CXL-enabled instances for an easy “test flight.” Click here for a CXL Flight Simulator technical overview and download instructions.
Microchip Introduces New CXL™ Smart Memory Controllers for Data Center Computing Enabling Modern CPUs to Optimize Application Workloads
CHANDLER, Ariz., Aug. 02, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP) today announces the expansion of its serial-attached memory controller portfolio with the new SMC 2000 series of Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) based Smart Memory Controllers that enable CPUs, GPUs and SoCs to utilize CXL interfaces to connect either DDR4 or DDR5 memory. This solution delivers more memory bandwidth per core, more memory capacity per core, and lowers the overall total cost of ownership in the data center by allowing modern CPUs to optimize application workloads.
